We are partnering with a respected private health and wellness clinic in NW Calgary to identify a Fractional HR Consultant who can provide hands-on human resources guidance and strategic support on an ongoing, part-time basis.

This engagement is ideal for an experienced independent HR professional looking to take on an additional client. The consultant will act as the clinic’s trusted HR partner, providing insight and leadership across all areas of human resources — from employee relations and policy development to performance management and compliance.

The ideal consultant brings 7–10+ years of progressive HR experience, with demonstrated strength in resolving employee relations matters, advising leaders, and maintaining compliance with Alberta employment legislation. Strong interpersonal communication and a practical, people-first approach will be key to building trust within this collaborative, in-office environment.

This part-time role is structured for individuals currently operating as independent contractors or those open to establishing themselves as such.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • HR Advisory
    :
    Offer HR support to employees and managers, fostering open communication.
  • Employee Concerns
    :
    Address daily employee issues promptly as the main point of contact.
  • Employee Relations
    :
    Advise on attendance, disability, and performance management, ensuring legal compliance.
  • Positive Relationships
    :
    Promote a positive work environment through strong employee relationships.
  • Performance Management
    :
    Support managers in addressing performance issues and investigations.
  • Policy Oversight
    :
    Develop and enforce HR policies for consistency and compliance.
  • Legal Compliance
    :
    Ensure adherence to employment laws and promote best HR practices.
  • Change Management
    :
    Guide staff and management through organizational change.
  • Implementation Support
    :
    Collaborate on change management to ensure effective execution.
  • Risk & Gap Analysis
    :
    Identify HR process inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • HR Metrics & Reporting
    :
    Track HR metrics for informed decision-making.
  • Position Management
    :
    Support position classifications and reclassification processes.
  • Strategic HR
    :
    Contribute to HR strategy and align it with business goals.
  • Flexible Support
    :
    Assist with additional tasks as needed.

Education:

  • A degree in Human Resources Management (or related field) is required.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is required.

Qualifications:

  • Criminal Record Check is required.
  • Must be established as independent contractor or willing to become one prior to starting.

Experience:

  • 7–10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Proven experience providing HR advisory or consulting services to small or mid-sized organizations.
  • Past experience working in healthcare considered a huge asset.
  • Strong background in employee relations, including handling grievances and sensitive matters
  • Experience in performance management and conducting investigations
  • Policy development, implementation, and enforcement experience
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
