Reporting to the Manager, Career Advancement Services, the Career Advisor supports SAIT students and alumni in achieving their career goals through personalized coaching and expert career guidance. Leveraging current recruitment practices, industry trends, and labour market insights, the Career Advisor delivers one‑on‑one advising, workshops, classroom presentations, and career readiness events.

The role helps learners build career success strategies, including resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, networking, and professional skills. In partnership with Academic Chairs, instructors, and employers, the Career Advisor also fosters meaningful connections between students, alumni, and industry, helping prepare graduates for success in an evolving workforce.

• Advise students and alumni on recruitment practices, labour market information, and industry trends, including resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, networking, and professional skills.
• Deliver one‑on‑one career consultations, group advising sessions, classroom presentations, and career readiness workshops.
• Guide students and alumni in using job search tools and platforms, including AI tools and their limitations within the job search process.
• Coach students through mock interviews, including behavioural interviewing techniques and the STAR method.
• Help students interpret labour market information and NOC codes to explore career options and industry opportunities.
• Support students in identifying career pathways and developing transferable skills and competencies.
• Evaluate learning outcomes from appointments, presentations, and workshops, and collaborate with the Career Advisor team to enhance resources and content.
• Conduct ongoing research on recruitment practices, labour market trends, industry developments, and post‑secondary career services best practices.
• Maintain knowledge of SAIT programs, learning outcomes, technical competencies, career pathways, and work‑integrated learning requirements.
• Support employers with creating accounts and posting job and volunteer opportunities on My Career Hub.
• Review and approve job and volunteer postings on My Career Hub, ensuring alignment with platform requirements and SAIT programs.
• Build relationships with employers to support networking opportunities, recruitment events, and hiring initiatives, including promoting SAIT Industry Nights and the Career Advancement Services Industry Mentorship Program.
• Collaborate with the Career Advisor team to maintain and enhance student career resources.
• Monitor and respond to the Career Advancement Services inbox as part of a shared team responsibility.
• Analyze data and reporting dashboards, including appointment volumes, service utilization, presentation requests, and demographic trends, to support planning and continuous improvement.

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Resources, Communication, Career Development
• 3-5 years Career Advising or HR Recruitment
• Career Development Practitioner and/or HR Recruitment and Selection Certificate
