Position Overview

The Junior Technical Assistant supports the smooth day-to-day operations of Grey Eagle Resort by providing frontline IT helpdesk support and assisting the team with routine repairs, inspections, setups, and preventative tasks as assigned.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, customer service, and working across a fast-paced, 24/7 hospitality and entertainment environment. The position helps ensure a safe, functional, and guest-ready resort through reliable technology and well-maintained facilities.

Responsibilities
  • IT / Technical Support (Frontline)
  • Provide Helpdesk technical support to staff across hotel, casino, F&B, events, and admin departments.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with desktops/laptops, printers, POS terminals, phones/tablets, and peripherals.
  • Assist users with email, Teams, and standard workplace applications.
  • Set up and deploy devices (imaging, logins, asset tags, basic configuration).
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting (Wi-Fi/LAN connectivity, port checks, device access).
  • Support AV/event technology (projectors, microphones, conferencing systems, room controls).
  • Log all work in the ticketing system; escalate complex issues with clear notes.
  • Follow security protocols for passwords, access rights, and safe data handling.
  • Maintenance / Facilities Support (Junior Level)
  • Assist Maintenance staff with routine building and equipment upkeep.
  • Perform basic repairs and minor fixes such as: changing light bulbs, batteries, filters; tightening/adjusting fixtures, hardware, doors; patching small wall/paint touch-ups (where trained); replacing signage or simple décor elements.
  • Support preventative maintenance tasks, including inspections and checklists.
  • Help with room, venue, and seasonal setups (banquets, events, guest areas).
  • Report hazards, damaged equipment, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and storage rooms.
  • Work safely using PPE and following WHMIS and resort safety procedures.
  • Cross-Department Operational Support
  • Assist with resort projects such as rollouts, upgrades, refurbishments, or reconfigurations.
  • Provide after-hours or emergency support when required.

Education And Experience

  • IT or Maintenance/Trades certificate/diploma is an asset.
  • Comfortable using computers and troubleshooting basic technology.
  • Basic knowledge of tools and safe handling practices.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment.
  • Physically able to lift/move equipment (up to ~50 lbs), climb step stools/ladders, and work on feet for long periods.
  • Valid driver’s license is an asset.

  • Any of the following certifications are assets:
  • CompTIA A+ / Network+
  • WHMIS / First Aid
  • Basic trades training (electrical, plumbing, HVAC assistant-level)
