Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a full‑time opportunity for a Scrum Master to join the Platform team. This role can be based out of our office in Stellarton, NS;
Mississauga, ON; or Calgary, AB.

You are an influencer and change agent.

In this exciting role, you will be facilitating communication between cross‑functional IT teams to avoid delays. In some cases, this may involve calls to resolve any internal or external conflicts involving software vendors and IT groups.

You can effectively undertake the application lifecycle which consists of coordinating the integration, security, testing requests, and timelines across product deliverables. This involves supporting and aligning product work streams, continually improving processes and reporting as well as providing ongoing support to the solutions manager and technical lead. In addition, you can successfully manage backlog and maintenance items into sprints for on‑time deployment.

You will be the go‑to person to help remove backlog blockers and to ensure vendors, users, and product teams are informed and aligned.

Responsibilities
  • Agile practices:
    Understand the ecosystem and practically apply relevant agile practices to the backlog management process. Guide the larger team on Scrum principles, practices, and ceremonies to enhance productivity and delivery.
  • Backlog management:
    Facilitate the end‑to‑end backlog process, including gathering requirements, prioritization, planning, and delivery. Work closely with solution managers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of scope, priorities, and timely delivery of enhancements.
  • Managing a complex environment:
    Leverage your experience in working with complex, integrated ecosystems to navigate and resolve challenges that may arise during product development and delivery.
  • Project Planning - For Mid‑Complex Projects, partner with Business Lead to create and manage project plans, including defining project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource planning.
  • Track and communicate progress:
    Provide regular, clear and concise visibility to enhancement/project status (key decisions, dependencies, issues, risks, metrics) on a standard cadence through status reporting and project/resource reviews. Be the primary point of contact for enhancement‑related communication, updates, and dependencies.
  • Collaboration with product teams:
    Collaborate with multiple product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver enhancements. This can involve ensuring cross‑team dependencies, testing and integrations are managed effectively.
  • Incident management:
    Assist in incident management by coordinating with relevant teams, resolving issues, and ensuring incidents are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Continuous improvement:
    Identify areas for improvement in the enhancement and incident management processes. Encourage the team to continuously improve their practices to enhance efficiency and delivery.
  • Risk management:

    Proactively identify risks and dependencies related to enhancement delivery and work with the team and stakeholders to mitigate potential issues or elevate as necessary.
  • Adaptability:
    Be flexible and adaptive, knowing when to apply agile practices and when to use traditional project management techniques.
  • Supports an environment where the team freely escalates challenges; facilitates change through positive reinforcement of successes.
  • Contribute to skills and capabilities development of the team through mentorship, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
