Parking and Transportation within AVP Strategy Enterprise Comm is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Dispatch & Systems Administrator .
Reporting to the Manager, Parking and Transportation Services, this position is the expert and resource for administration of software and systems that are critical to the operations of the department. The position operates with minimal supervision and is expected to make decisions regarding the operation using a high level of judgement. Issues that arise can have significant financial and operational impacts and range from medium to high complexity.
The incumbent can be expected to exercise flexibility and adaptability in responding to evolving priorities and operational demands. This position will be required to work a variety of shifts from Monday to Sunday, from 7:00 to 21:00, often operating on a Monday-Friday 9:00-17:00 basis to provide extended support to the parking operations.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Administration & Technical Management - 50%
- Administer, configure, and optimize parking and residence access control systems to ensure reliability, performance, and data integrity.
- Manage user access, roles, and permissions across platforms.
- Provide system and program training to all employees within parking and transportation as required.
- Monitor, test, and troubleshoot systems, including hardware, firmware, LPR technologies (Genetec), and residence access systems (Genea).
- Maintain LPR alert logic and system configurations to support enforcement operations.
- Coordinate system integrations and collaborate with IT and stakeholders on cybersecurity and compliance requirements.
- Identify system issues and lead resolution efforts with internal teams and external vendors.
- Manage vendor relationships, including system enhancements, support, and lifecycle planning.
Dispatch & Enforcement Coordination - 40%
- Lead dispatch operations for enforcement staff, ensuring clear, timely, and effective communication.
- Analyze data from AIMS, Genetec, and related systems to guide enforcement deployment and priorities.
- Provide real-time direction on enforcement activity, including high-infraction areas and impound able vehicles.
- Interpret operational data to support decision-making in complex, time-sensitive situations and improve enforcement effectiveness.
Department Support - 10%
- Provide operational guidance and training as needed to Parking Services staff.
- Maintain working knowledge of all parking administrative functions, such as appeals, permit issuance, and UPass issuance, to support operations during peak periods.
- Assist with service delivery for events and off-site activities.
- Support departmental initiatives and projects through coordination, analysis, and implementation.
- Ensure decisions and actions align with university structure, policies, and stakeholder considerations.
- Resolve operational and system-related issues in a timely and effective manner using sound judgment.
- 1-3 years of systems administration or information technology experience.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to share knowledge and workflow with team members.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are a necessity.
- Work in the parking industry or relevant post-secondary education would be an asset.
