Raise is currently hiring a Senior Data Scientist / Data Science Lead on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is one of North America's leading energy infrastructure companies with operations in natural gas, oil and power industries throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

Note:

The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

Our Client is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Senior Data Scientist / Data Science Lead to champion our advanced analytics initiatives. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex mathematics and business strategy, designing high-impact predictive models and leading the rollout of our enterprise Big Data capabilities.

You will not only build scalable analytical products but also serve as a mentor and internal evangelist—inspiring the adoption of modern data science practices across the entire organization.

Responsibilities
  • Advanced Modeling & Algorithm Design:
    Design, build, test, and implement robust machine learning models and statistical algorithms that power data-driven products across various business units.
  • Enterprise Big Data Strategy:
    Lead the rollout of scalable Big Data capabilities, consumer initiatives, and advanced analytic frameworks.
  • Team-oriented Product Delivery:
    Work closely with Data Engineers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand raw data pipeline structures and design engineered features that maximize model performance.
  • Agile MVP Deployment:
    Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact, scalable, and sustainable analytical products using a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) approach and continuous product releases.
  • Insights & Optimization:
    Utilize advanced data science techniques to uncover hidden data patterns, detect anomalies, and identify process optimization opportunities.
  • Subject Matter Expertise & Mentorship:
    Provide deep technical expertise in complex mathematical and statistical concepts to the broader Applied Analytics team.
  • Business Translation & Visualization:
    Interpret, translate, and communicate sophisticated analytical findings to non-technical business stakeholders through compelling data visualizations and storytelling.
  • Data Science Evangelism:
    Act as a thought leader to inspire and advocate for the adoption of advanced data science and analytics cultures across the entire enterprise.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive experience delivering production-grade data science models, ideally within the energy, utilities, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python or R.
  • Deep understanding of machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, Tensor Flow, PyTorch) and statistical modeling.
  • Experience with Big Data ecosystems (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Databricks, AWS/Azure/GCP cloud data suites).
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Plotly).
  • Proven experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment with a focus on MVP delivery and Dev Ops/MLOps pipelines.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of translating complex technical realities into clear business value for executive stakeholders.
  • Bachelors or Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a highly quantitative field.
