Overview

The IT Project Manager Infrastructure is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of IT Infrastructure projects from initiation through completion. This role oversees project delivery efforts across a portfolio of initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives, effective resource utilization, and timely delivery of high-quality outcomes.

This role collaborates with cross‑functional stakeholders and technical teams to manage project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and change. It is ideal for individuals with a strong foundation in project coordination and business analysis who are ready to take full ownership of project delivery. The role requires a proactive leader who can manage multiple projects, influence stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement in delivery practices.

Details
  • Full time permanent position, Monday‑Friday, 40 hours per week.
  • This role can be based in Sherwood Park or Calgary, Alberta, Canada or Houston, Texas, USA, in a hybrid (office / work‑from‑home) capacity.
Project Management and Execution
  • Lead infrastructure projects involving networks, servers, cloud platforms, data centers, telecommunications, and end‑user computing environments.
  • Manage deployment and upgrade initiatives involving firewalls, switches, routers, wireless infrastructure, storage, virtualization, and cloud services.
  • Coordinate infrastructure modernization, capacity expansion, and technology refresh programs.
  • Lead the full lifecycle of IT projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Define project scopes, deliverables, schedules, and resource plans in collaboration with stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Track and manage project progress against objectives, resolving blockers and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and in alignment with organizational standards.
Team and Resource Coordination
  • Coordinate activities across infrastructure, network, cloud, cybersecurity, and vendor teams.
  • Support resource planning and scheduling for maintenance windows, cutovers, and infrastructure deployments.
  • Coordinate the work of cross‑functional teams, including internal IT staff, business users, and third‑party vendors.
  • Support resource planning and task assignment across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to junior project team members, including specialists and coordinators.
Stakeholder Management and Communication
  • Communicate infrastructure project impacts, outage windows, deployment schedules, and service transition activities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to minimize operational disruption during infrastructure changes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely communication.
  • Prepare and deliver project updates, dashboards, and reports for business and technical audiences.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations appropriately throughout the project lifecycle.
Delivery Process and Continuous Improvement
  • Support infrastructure standardization, operational maturity, and technology lifecycle management initiatives.
  • Promote infrastructure design and implementation practices that improve scalability, reliability, and resiliency.
  • Apply appropriate project delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid) based on project context.
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes and implement best practices for project execution.
  • Participate in retrospectives and knowledge‑sharing activities to support continuous improvement.
Risk and Issue Management
  • Manage risks related to system availability, network performance, disaster recovery, cybersecurity, and operational continuity.
  • Coordinate mitigation and contingency planning for critical infrastructure implementations and cutovers.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Maintain risk logs and issue trackers; escalate critical concerns to senior leadership as needed.
  • Implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
