Job Title: Data Center Technician I
OverviewAs a Data Center Technician, you will play a pivotal role in troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware infrastructure issues. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining documentation on technologies you support, and effectively transferring this knowledge to junior staff members. You possess basic to intermediate system administration skills and can perform remote system administration tasks within a virtual team environment.
The ability to automate tasks using scripts is essential. You will work autonomously to resolve most support issues, execute small projects independently, and collaborate with your manager on larger projects. As the initial escalation point for junior technicians, you will understand all aspects of the equipment you support. You are capable of making independent decisions, while also taking direction and paying attention to details.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware infrastructure issues.
- Create and maintain documentation on supported technologies.
- Transfer knowledge of technologies to junior staff.
- Perform basic to intermediate system administration tasks.
- Automate tasks using scripting when necessary.
- Execute small projects independently and collaborate on larger projects.
- Serve as the initial escalation point for junior technicians.
- Understand all aspects of the supported equipment.
- Strong computer hardware knowledge, including troubleshooting and fixing issues with RAM, CPU, and motherboard.
- Proficiency in networking, including understanding of fiber optic tools, MAC addresses, and DNS servers.
- Basic experience with Linux.
- Willingness to learn and a growth mindset.
- Reliability clearance required:
Must be a citizen or permanent resident with 5+ years in the country, no absence exceeding 6 months in the past 5 years.
Skills & Qualifications
- Functional French or willingness to take classes to improve.
- Diploma or degree in a related field.
- Scripting or programming skills.
- Previous data center experience.
- Web design and scripting knowledge.
- Ability to read workflows.
This role involves hands‑on and online training, including shadowing tenured technicians and working on rate fix tickets. Training lasts approximately six weeks, preparing you for solo shifts. The position requires lifting up to 40 pounds and working inside a data hall, often on your feet. The work schedule is a rotation of 40 hours a week, 10 hours a day, across four days, with shifts from Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday.

This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.14/hr.
