Data Center Technician

Description

TEKsystems is seeking a skilled Data Center Technician to support one of our largest global cloud and technology clients. In this role, you will serve as a key technical resource within the data center operations team, providing advanced troubleshooting, infrastructure support, and operational excellence in a mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a primary technical resource and escalation point for complex hardware and infrastructure issues within the data center environment.

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve server, networking, storage, and rack-level infrastructure incidents with minimal supervision.

Create, maintain, and improve technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base articles.

Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and team development.

Perform basic to intermediate system administration tasks and collaborate with remote teams to support enterprise infrastructure.

Develop and utilize automation scripts where appropriate to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Independently manage and resolve support tickets while maintaining adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).

Execute small-scale projects autonomously and collaborate with management on larger site initiatives, upgrades, and deployments.

Serve as the initial escalation point for junior team members and assist in incident resolution and root cause analysis.

Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the equipment, systems, and technologies supported within the data center.

Contribute ideas for process improvements, operational efficiencies, and infrastructure optimizations.

Follow established procedures while demonstrating sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

Experience supporting data center operations, server hardware, networking, or enterprise infrastructure environments.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across hardware and infrastructure technologies.

Working knowledge of Linux, Windows Server, and system administration fundamentals.

Experience with ticketing systems, operational documentation, and change management processes.

Familiarity with scripting and automation tools such as Power Shell, Python, or Bash is an asset.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with local and virtual teams.

Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting hyperscale cloud or enterprise data center environments.

Knowledge of server, storage, networking, and rack infrastructure deployment and maintenance.

Industry certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, Linux+, CCNA, or equivalent.

Experience working in a 24x7 mission-critical operations environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Rotating shifts:

NO OT- 40hrs, 10hrs a day, 4 days a week

Rotation, 6 weeks: sun-weds 8am-6pm, sun-weds 10pm-8am, weds-sat 8am-6pm

Safety shoes,

Mileage expense- for training purposes
