Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Monitoring & Observability Engineer with deep, hands‑on expertise across Splunk, Solar Winds Orion, and Dynatrace. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain enterprise monitoring solutions that provide end‑to‑end visibility into infrastructure, network, application, and business performance. You will be a key partner to IT Operations, Network Engineering, and Application Development teams, ensuring rapid detection, diagnosis, and resolution of issues across a complex, distributed environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, configure, and optimize Splunk environments, including index management, data onboarding, search head clusters, and custom dashboards, reports, and alerts.
  • Design and maintain Solar Winds Orion modules (NPM, SAM, NCM, etc.) for network and systems performance monitoring, including topology mapping, alerting, and capacity planning.
  • Implement and manage Dynatrace for full‑stack observability, including APM, infrastructure monitoring, real user monitoring (RUM), and AI‑driven root cause analysis (Davis AI).
  • Develop and maintain SPL queries, correlation searches, and custom Splunk apps/add‑ons to support security, operations, and business use cases.
  • Build integrated, cross‑platform dashboards and alerting workflows that correlate data from Splunk, Orion, and Dynatrace to reduce MTTD and MTTR.
  • Partner with Network, Systems, Application, and Security teams to define monitoring requirements and ensure comprehensive coverage of critical services.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of monitoring tools, including upgrades, patching, license management, and performance tuning.
  • Create and maintain runbooks, documentation, and SOPs for monitoring platforms.
  • Participate in incident response and root cause analysis, providing monitoring data and insights to support troubleshooting.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to observability architecture, tooling, and processes, including automation opportunities.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers on monitoring tools and best practices.
  • Support on‑call rotation for critical monitoring infrastructure issues, as needed.
Skill Requirements
  • 8+ years of hands‑on experience administering and engineering Splunk environments (Enterprise or Cloud).
  • 8+ years of experience with Solar Winds Orion platform and associated modules (NPM, SAM, NCM, NTA, etc.).
  • 8+ years of experience implementing and managing Dynatrace for APM and full‑stack observability.
  • Strong proficiency writing SPL queries, building Splunk dashboards, and configuring alerts/correlation searches.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, SNMP, Net Flow, DNS) as they relate to network monitoring.
  • Experience with Dynatrace One Agent deployment, management zones, and Davis AI problem analysis.
  • Familiarity with scripting/automation (Python, Power Shell, or Bash) for monitoring integrations and automation.
  • Experience integrating monitoring tools with ITSM platforms (e.g., Service Now, Service Desk Plus) for automated ticketing/alerting.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to correlate data across multiple platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings for non‑technical stakeholders.
Other Requirements
  • Splunk certifications (e.g., Splunk Core Certified Power User, Splunk Certified Admin, or Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect).
  • Dynatrace Associate or Professional certification.
  • Solar Winds Certified Professional (SCP) certification.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and monitoring hybrid/cloud‑native environments.
  • Experience with containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker) and associated observability tooling.
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices and experience operating within a formal change management process.
  • Experience with additional observability or SIEM tools (e.g., Grafana, Datadog, ELK, QRadar) a plus.
