Reporting to the Unified Fibre Planning Sr. Manager, West and working closely with other network designers and planning specialists, the Fibre Specialist is responsible for the delivery of fibre optic solutions and projects in a dynamic environment dealing with network growth and technology advancements in different areas of the Rogers in cable territory network. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of HFC and fibre optic plant design, experience with troubleshooting fibre optic circuit and acting as support to various technical groups.
Whatyou'll do:
- Responsible for the delivery of fibre optic projects in a dynamic environment with varying degrees of complexity, time frames and capital.
- Responsible for the design and planning of standard and new optical architecture, considering optical link reach, fibre design efficiency, network reliability, redundancy and scalability.
- Accurately document fibre details on exiting fibre asset and take all necessary steps to ensure data integrity of the fibre network is maintained.
- Provide technical support to system planners and network specialist for the selection of routes, ensuring optimum cost effectiveness and performance of our existing and expanding fibre network.
- Plan end to end fibre solution and/or provide instruction to support staff and engineering contractors for the successful delivery of plan.
- Review business requirements and engineering plans engineering and deliver accurate and reliability fibre solution.
- Manage existing inside cable territory fibre network and provide detailed instructions to technical staff.
- Ensure projects are completed to engineering spec, planning requirements and delivered on time.
- Provide fibre network design alternatives and assist in optimizing fibre network capability.
- Provide support for the operation, maintenance and restoration of the fibre network.
- Previous relevant work experience, preferably in Outside Plant Engineering.
- Sound knowledge of HFC and Fibre Optic Networks Telecommunications Environment experience is desirable
- Good working knowledge of all Microsoft applications, AutoCAD, SpatialNETPost Secondary education in telecommunications, civil engineering or a related field.
- Experience in managing multiple, simultaneous, high volume projects self-motivated with the ability to work well independently and on a team.
- Detail oriented with an aptitude for tracking progress across many projects
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong organizational, written, verbal and time management skills.
- Ability to achieve results through teamwork
Sound knowledge of Rogers Wireline Access Network is an asset.
