Database Administrator Intermediate Role at WestJet

Join West Jet as an Intermediate Database Administrator, focusing on database optimization and performance. This position requires in-person collaboration up to five days a week.

In this role, you will work closely with seasoned Database Engineers and oversee enterprise database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database. Your expertise in cloud migration and database modernization will be pivotal in enhancing West Jet’s operational efficiency. A Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma along with 3-5 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain enterprise databases for optimal performance

• Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions

• Monitor database health and perform routine maintenance

• Collaborate on schema changes and new feature deployments

• Assist in root cause analysis for database incidents

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience in database administration

• Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle Databases

• Familiarity with Azure SQL Database is a plus

• Strong understanding of database security practices

• Effective communicator with technical teams
