Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to lead a large-scale office relocation initiative focused on IT infrastructure and end‑user technology for a head office environment in downtown Calgary. This role will be responsible for ensuring a seamless, low‑risk transition of all IT systems, infrastructure, and user workstations to a newly constructed office space, with minimal disruption to business operations.

This is a hands‑on, delivery‑focused role, requiring strong technical coordination, vendor management, and onsite leadership throughout planning, execution, and stabilization phases.

Project Context
  • Office relocation for a primary corporate/head office
  • New site currently under construction (design/build in progress)
  • Target move window:
Late Fall (October, subject to change)
  • Preferred approach:
Phased/staggered move to allow testing and validation
  • High emphasis on risk mitigation, testing, and business continuity
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the end‑to‑end IT relocation project plan, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables
  • Act as the single point of accountability for all IT‑related move activities
  • Drive decision‑making around phased versus single‑day cutover strategy
  • Develop and maintain risk registers, dependency tracking, and mitigation plans
  • Oversee planning and execution across network infrastructure, backend systems, hardware deployment, and staging
  • Ensure infrastructure readiness prior to move‑in, including testing, validation, firewall setup, network configuration, and NAC validation
  • Track and manage hardware procurement, vendor quotes, approvals, and purchase timelines while monitoring long‑lead items and escalating risks early
  • Coordinate closely with construction teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure infrastructure delivery aligns with IT requirements prior to handover
  • Lead move‑day execution planning and coordination, ensuring a seamless plug‑and‑play experience for end users
  • Oversee workstation setup, including monitors, docks, peripherals, and specialized configurations such as trading environments
  • Coordinate transportation and setup of IT equipment in collaboration with movers and internal teams
  • Define and execute pre‑move staging and testing plans, as well as post‑move validation, issue triage, and stabilization efforts
  • Lead the hyper‑care period post‑move to ensure rapid resolution of any issues impacting business operations
  • Manage specialized workstation environments, including Bloomberg terminals, check printing systems, and custom configurations, ensuring compatibility and readiness
  • Conduct pre‑move inventory and technical validation of all equipment and configurations
  • Assess, recommend, and coordinate additional technical resources required for network testing, workstation deployment, and move‑day support
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience as a Senior IT Project Manager within enterprise environments
  • Proven experience leading office relocation or IT infrastructure migration projects
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, including LAN, Wi‑Fi, firewalls, and network security concepts
  • Experience managing end‑user computing environments, hardware deployments, and staging processes
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendors, procurement processes, and complex project dependencies
  • Strong experience working in fast‑paced environments with tight timelines and multiple stakeholders
  • Comfortable working onsite and taking a hands‑on approach during critical phases of the project
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience coordinating cross‑functional technical teams and driving project execution from planning through stabilization
Nice‑to‑Have
  • Experience supporting trading floor or highly specialized workstation environments
  • Familiarity with Network Access Control (NAC) implementations
  • Background in financial services or high‑availability enterprise environments
  • PMP or equivalent certification
Success Criteria
  • Seamless transition with minimal business disruption
  • Fully functional infrastructure and systems ready at go‑live at the scheduled time
