Position: Large Loss Commercial Property Claims Examiner

Large Loss Commercial Property Claims Examiner – Complex Loss Team

As a Large Loss Commercial Property Claims Examiner, you will oversee the review of claim files and supervise third‑party adjusters, ensuring alignment with Aviva’s best practices and delivery of outstanding customer service.

What you’ll do
  • Resource field work to be completed by IA by setting clear expectations and timelines and managing the file through to completion.
  • Arrange market calls or work with various insurers on subscription claims.
  • Prepare and present a complete file strategy, coverage analysis, disposition, and business case.
  • Investigate claims by reviewing IA reports and specialists, acquiring facts and information to analyze the loss.
  • Review and compile facts, policies, technical reports, analyze estimates, value of claim, and settle claims.
  • Communicate claim adjustments via written reports to all parties based on policy wording and circumstances surrounding the loss.
  • Provide outstanding service to our customers.
  • Ensure data accuracy and issue payments to vendors, insureds, and specialists.
  • Complete correspondence in a timely and effective manner, including Critical Path Letters, Proof of Losses, and Reservation of Rights letters.
  • Identify questionable claims, subrogation opportunities, and risk opportunities.
What you’ll bring
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in commercial property claims.
  • Solid experience managing large and complex commercial property losses in excess of $5,000,000 on a consistent basis.
  • Detailed knowledge of the property insurance industry and strong understanding of property insurance case law.
  • Strong construction knowledge.
  • Strong digital literacy.
  • Detailed knowledge of a variety of property coverage wordings.
  • Basic accounting skills.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
