Commercial Underwriter Position at Aviva

Aviva Canada is searching for an Intermediate Commercial Underwriter for our Calgary branch. This hybrid role focuses on underwriting P&C accounts while fostering broker collaborations for success.

The successful candidate will underwrite new and renewal accounts within their delegated authority, assess complex risks, and recommend pricing. You'll actively participate in broker meetings to ensure smooth renewals and new business. This is a pivotal role that encourages independent task management and accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite new and renewal P&C accounts effectively

• Assess moderate risks and suggest pricing terms

• Build relationships with brokers during meetings

• Monitor market conditions and maintain documentation

• Provide basic coaching to junior team members

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of P&C underwriting experience

• Strong knowledge of policy wording and pricing

• Proficiency with underwriting tools and Microsoft Office

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

• Ability to consistently apply underwriting guidelines
