Senior Life Insurance Underwriter

Analyze medical and financial information as a Senior Underwriter with Sun Life, working hybrid from home or office. Assess life and critical illness applications.

This senior underwriting position evaluates individual life and critical illness insurance risks using quantitative and qualitative information. You will apply underwriting guidelines, professional judgment, and medical knowledge while collaborating with reinsurers, advisors, and internal partners. The work supports clear, client-focused decisions.

• Analyze medical, personal, and financial application information
• Assess and classify risks using underwriting guidelines
• Make decisions within authority and submit excess files
• Explain decisions clearly to advisors and physicians
• Improve underwriting quality, efficiency, and consistency

• At least three years’ individual life underwriting experience
• Existing signing authority for life and critical illness insurance
• Analytical, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Knowledge of medicine and insurance risk factors
• ALU certificate or commitment to obtain it
