Facilitate compliance and customer support as Membership and Compliance Counsel at the Law Society of Alberta. This role involves regulatory assessment and the management of legal practice applications.
In this position, you will deliver expert legal analysis, oversee membership applications, and ensure compliance with the Fair Registration Practices Act. As a representative of the Credentials & Education Committee, you'll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance processes and customer engagement, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
• Draft decisions on membership and licensing matters
• Evaluate processes against compliance regulations
• Support training initiatives for staff on legal requirements
• Perform compliance reporting and monitor outcomes
• Engage with other law societies to share best practices
Requirements:
• Law degree and Bar call mandatory
• Minimum of 5 years in legal practice experience
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in administrative law principles
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment
