A well-established Calgary law firm is seeking a Commercial Litigation & Insurance Lawyer with 3-7 years of experience to join its growing litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience in private practice or an in-house legal department who enjoys handling sophisticated commercial and insurance-related matters in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Provide legal analysis and strategic advice on insurance defense and insurance coverage matters.
Conduct legal research and prepare thorough written opinions.
Draft pleadings, motion materials, factums, mediation briefs, and pre-trial memoranda.
Prepare correspondence with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
Prepare for and attend examinations for discovery, mediations, and other litigation proceedings.
Represent clients in court on motions and other adjudicative hearings.
Participate in Alberta and Canadian Bar Association events to support professional development and business growth.
Assist with practice management responsibilities and other firm initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
3-7 years of experience in commercial litigation, insurance defense, insurance coverage, or related litigation matters.
Experience gained in private practice or an in-house legal environment.
Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and client relationship abilities.
Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta (or eligible for admission).
Compensation
Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 CAD, depending on experience, plus a competitive benefits package and bonus potential.
