Position: Facility Assistant - High River Agro
Location: High River

Position Summary:

South Country Co-op is hiring a Facility Assistant at our High River Agro Centre, in AB. Reporting to the Agribusiness Manager, the Facility Assistant provides exceptional customer service while supporting the daily warehouse, yard, and delivery operations.

This role offers hands-on experience in agriculture retail, including developing agronomy knowledge, operational skills, and an understanding of sales functions within the Co-op system. The Facility Assistant loads and unloads product, assists customers in the yard and warehouse, practices safe work procedures, delivery of products, and supports the overall cleanliness and organization of the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly, efficient service by assisting customers with locating and loading products.
  • Assist with loading products and locating items in the warehouse
  • Perform stocking, pricing, and inventory control
  • Assist with shipping and receiving procedures
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas by following housekeeping and safety procedures.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of products and materials
  • Support adherence to asset protection and loss prevention procedures
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts or skid steers (if certified or trained)
  • Complete data entry tasks such as logging inventory, processing basic documentation, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Uphold South Country Co-op’s standards for safety, teamwork, and service excellence
  • Educate customers on the benefits of membership in South Country Co-op
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications
    : Candidates must hold a valid minimum Class 5 driver’s license, Class 3Q or higher preferred) with a clean driving record. Candidates should have knowledge of agricultural products. Preference will be given to those with post-secondary education, or who are working towards a diploma or degree in an agricultural program. Knowledge of NH₃, agrochemicals, and mechanical ability would be considered an asset.

  • Ability to complete and successfully pass a pre-employment alcohol and substance test.
  • Ability to complete and successfully pass a pre-employment Driver Evaluation performed by a third-party company appointed by South Country Co-op Limited.
  • Must provide clean Drivers Abstract as part of the application process.
  • Physical ability to perform warehouse and yard functions, including the ability to lift and carry more than 55 lbs. on a regular (daily) basis.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicle, while delivering Anhydrous Ammonia and other Agro products to customers
  • Forklift and skid steer experience is an asset.
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Able to read land locations and maps.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to perform data entry accurately.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic
  • Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment
  • Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Availability:
    Monday-Friday (Seasonal evening and weekends)
