Join us, this is where your career story takes off. Overview of the role:Westjet is seeking an Advisor, Fuel. At West Jet, fuel is one of our largest operating expenses and a critical part of keeping our operation running safely and reliably. As Advisor, Fuel, you will help ensure a secure, cost-effective, and compliant fuel supply across our network.
Reporting to the Senior Manager – Strategic Procurement, Environment & Fuel, this role combines strategic sourcing, supplier management, market analysis, and operational support. Working closely with stakeholders across Finance, Flight Operations, Technical Operations, Airport Operations, Network Planning, and IT, you will support business decisions, manage supply risks, and contribute to long-term fuel and sustainability strategies.
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management- Support fuel sourcing strategies, contract negotiations, and consortium participation.
- Monitor fuel markets, supplier capabilities, and industry trends.
- Manage supplier performance through KPIs, service level agreements, and regular business reviews.
- Build and maintain strong supplier and industry relationships.
- Manage fuel procurement activities from purchase through payment.
- Monitor fuel inventories, supply risks, and operational constraints across the network.
- Support contingency planning and emergency fuel sourcing during supply disruptions.
- Identify opportunities to improve supply reliability, efficiency, and cost performance.
- Provide market analysis, pricing insights, and risk assessments to support decision-making.
- Prepare reports, business cases, and recommendations for stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, regulatory requirements, CSOX controls, and audit standards.
- Support enhancements to Fuel Plus, Coupa, and other fuel management systems.
- Contribute to process improvements, automation initiatives, data governance, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) programs.
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Aviation, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, aviation, energy, or a related industry.
- Experience managing suppliers, contracts, and commercial relationships.
- Experience working in regulated and operationally complex environments.
- Aviation fuel or energy industry experience is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, financial, and commercial acumen.
- Knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract administration.
- Understanding of commodity markets, logistics, and supply chain operations.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with ERP, Source-to-Pay, and business intelligence systems.
You anticipate risks and opportunities, build strong relationships, and use data-driven insights to inform decisions. You drive operational reliability, maintain strong governance and compliance practices, and continuously look for ways to improve processes, systems, and business outcomes.
