McElhanney, recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, is looking for a Line Locator Assistant to join our team in Drumheller, AB. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors and wants hands‑on surveying and line‑locating experience. Reporting to a Field Supervisor or Crew Chief, you will assist the operations team to complete utility locates and surveys efficiently to meet contractual and legal obligations.

• Follow directives from the Field Supervisor or Crew Chief to assist the utility locate team.
• Prepare accurate field notes when required.
• Clean and maintain equipment, manage supplies, stock the company vehicle, and ensure necessary physical resources are available in the field with minimal supervision.
• Use tools and equipment such as chainsaw, axe, sledgehammer, shovel, metal detector, and survey tripod to complete assigned tasks.

• Overtime earned at time and a half.

• Hands‑on training and a safety allowance for personal protective equipment.

• A positive attitude with a strong willingness to learn and adapt.
• Reliability and punctuality.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and general computer knowledge.
• High school diploma, technical school education, and previous experience are an asset but not required.
• Physical fitness, ability to lift heavy equipment, willingness to work in varied environmental and wildlife‑populated areas, and readiness to work in remote areas for extended periods.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel out of town for up to three‑week periods.
• Pre‑employment drug, alcohol, and fitness for work testing is required.

The hourly rate for this position is $17 – $26 per hour. McElhanney also offers:
