To continue accomplishing this, we are happy to start our search for a Facilities Maintenance Specialist. The ideal candidate will be someone who can support us to continue achieving our company goal, someone with initiative, always willing to improve and improve our service; someone who can treat our properties as their own home and transfer that care to our guests, to make them feel welcome and at home as well.
Role Description. As a Facilities Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and proper turnover of our rooms and private units in Calgary. You will also ensure that all our bedrooms and properties are in optimum conditions to deliver a world-quality service to our dear guests.
This is a PERMANENT POSITION that will report directly to the owner of the company and will be hired initially as a PART TIME job exclusively for the WEEKENDS (Saturdays and Sundays, 7 hours per day of effective of work, for a total of 14 hours per week). Since we continue growing, this position may transition to full time within one year, depending on performance.
Key Responsiblities
- Ensure the proper housekeeping of each bedroom and common areas in our guesthouses, while always maintaining our spotless concept.
- Ensure that all the linens are properly sanitized, dried, and stocked, promoting a smooth turnover of our bedrooms.
- Track inventory and timely report the need of supplies, considering lead times, to maintain efficient operations of our guesthouses.
- Ensure that the outdoor areas of our facilities are kept in optimum conditions, which includes cleaning external windows, gutters and walls; ensuring that the waste bins are placed outside for collection; basic gardening tasks, such as mowing small areas of lawn, blowing leaves, and snow shoveling.
- Conduct regular property inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, functionality, and compliance with accommodation standards.
- Support with basic tasks for the maintenance of our facilities, which can include cleaning and painting (small areas) walls, and skirtboards; small plumbing tasks, such as small fixings of sinks, showers and bathtubs; basic electricity tasks (changing light bulbs, inspecting switches); occasionally assembling small furniture.
- Report and plan any necessary major fixings in the facilities.
Qualifications
- High school concluded. Bachelors/postgraduate degree is an asset.
- 1 year of experience working as a housekeeper, inspector, or similar role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- High attention to detail is required.
- Reliable and organized.
- Excellent time management (pacing and scheduling) skills.
- Advanced level of English required. Additional languages (French, German, Spanish, Chinese, Corean) will be considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in facilities maintenance, which can include plumbing, electricity, gardening, or painting, is a strong asset.
- Previous experience using a planning/scheduling software, preferably with a Property Management Software (PMS), is an asset.
- Previous experience in customer facing roles/sales is an asset.
- Only candidates with citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid work permit for at least six months will be considered.
Salary. $13,000 - $15,000 per year + cleanliness bonus + performance bonus.
Work schedule. Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (including lunch time). Any additional work time would be paid accordingly, on an hourly basis, and following the Alberta Employment Standards.
