Duties
Maintenance Worker II
- General Maintenance Crew

  • Provides general maintenance, repair and labour services to support grounds, roads and facilities maintenance in all seasons; construction and installations; and other general maintenance and repair requirements for Parks Canada Agency.

Maintenance Worker II
- Winter Track Setter

  • Responsible for winter Track setting Activities / Trail Prep & grooming, Snowmobile operation, trailering tasks.

Maintenance Worker II
- Trail Crew

  • Provides general maintenance, repair and labour services to support backcountry trail and infrastructure maintenance and construction; and other general maintenance and repair requirements for Parks Canada Agency.

Intent of the process
The results of this process will be used to fill anticipatory term vacancies and may be used in the future to fill permanent or temporary vacancies that may arise at the Maintenance Worker II, GL MAN 03 group and level, in the same, or other, areas within the Parks Canada Agency with full or part-time hours for various tenures, such as:
Indeterminate, Term, Acting Assignment or Assignment at level, depending on status of the selected candidate. The work location will be one of the following:
Lake Louise, AB, Yoho National Park BC or Radium Hot Springs, BC depending on the position being filled.

We have the following anticipated positions available:

  • Maintenance Worker II (Anticipatory Maintenance Crew)
  • Maintenance Worker II (Anticipatory Trail Crew – Summer 2027)
  • Maintenance Worker II (Anticipatory Winter Track setter – Winter )
Conditions of employment

Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance. Learn more about Security Screening ().

Possession and maintenance of a valid class 5 driver’s licence or provincial equivalent.

Will be required to undergo and pass pre-placement and periodic medical checks.

Possession and maintenance of a wilderness first aid certificate (only for Stream 2 - Trail Crew).

Operational Requirements

Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and personal protective equipment.

Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and / or statutory holidays and provincial / territorial holidays.

Willingness to assist in forest fire suppression, including stand-by and extra duty.

Extensive physical effort required to work for prolonged periods of time.

Willingness to obtain and maintain valid chainsaw certification (only for Stream 2 - Trail Crew).
