Career Opportunity

The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre is looking to hire a full-time Maintenance Services Worker reporting to the Manager, Maintenance Services. Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance Services, the Maintenance Services Worker performs general maintenance across the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre (CTCC) and the Glenbow Museum. The role covers building envelope, base building finishes, and interior finishes at both facilities, upholding CTCC standards for quality and OH&S protocols.

Duties

and Responsibilities Operations & Service Delivery
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of the CTCC and Glenbow Museum buildings, including but not limited to repairing damage to meeting rooms, public areas, offices and galleries.
  • Patching walls, re-staining woodwork, replacing and repairing wallpaper, painting, repairing and replacing floor and ceiling tiles, operable wall panels and tracks, aerial work platforms, forklifts and snow removal equipment, repairing doors, mouldings and windows, maintaining the building envelope at both facilities, and removing graffiti from exterior walls.
  • Perform and/or assist contractors with internal renovations.
  • Transport internal freight as required.
  • Oversee and enforce company standards on contractors for quality, conduct, occupational health and safety protocols.
  • Log completed tasks and inspection results each shift using the department's shift logging software (Muddy Boots).
  • Check EBMS daily for scheduled event functions and use the event schedule to plan and prioritize maintenance work for the day and week ahead.
  • Snow removal (using a shovel &/or snow removal equipment) from the loading docks, sidewalks around both CTCC buildings and the Glenbow Museum, and the patio in the south building.
  • Perform pin spotlight adjustments.
  • Attend pre-convention and other meetings as required.
  • Work flexible and overtime hours as required.
  • Assist other departments as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Asset and Inventory Management
  • Repair furniture and equipment as required.
  • Maintain clean and organized shops and equipment to ensure good working conditions.
  • Operate the forklift to move freight within the facility.
  • Conduct routine inspections of assigned equipment and report defects or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Assist with inventory control of finishes and shop supplies and restocking as required.
Customer Service & Public Interaction
  • Interact courteously and professionally with guests, clients, exhibitors, and staff while performing duties.
  • Maintain a positive and helpful demeanor, even in high-pressure or client-facing situations.
  • Respond to client-impacting requests in a timely, respectful, and service-oriented manner.

Education
  • High School Diploma.
  • Post-Secondary Trade (Asset).
  • 3-5 years of building maintenance experience.
  • Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills preferred.
  • Momentus or similar EBMS (event management booking system).
  • First Aid, CPR, AED Certification.
  • Knowledge of CMMS software such as UpKeep, Click Up, Muddy Boots, or similar platforms is an asset.
Experience & Requirements
  • Knowledge ofGHS, occupational health and safety, asbestos awareness guidelines, and fall protection equipment procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience working with carpentry, masonry, and painting tools and equipment.
  • Forklift and Aerial Work Platform Certification and operational experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically fit to have the ability to lift up to 60lbs (equipment) and push/pull a maximum of 444lbs.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Comfortable work in a fast-paced, event-driven environment with shifting priorities.
  • To be able to discern colors.
Schedule
  • Be flexible to work a rotational shift including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
