Senior Manager 2 - Salary: $5,018.84 to $6,373.20 bi-weekly ($130,991 - $166,340/year)
- Strategic Coordination:
Lead development and implementation of ministry mandate, initiatives, and projects; ensure alignment with government priorities. - Issues Management:
Develop and implement strategies and processes to manage urgent or politically sensitive matters; facilitate communication between the DMO, Minister’s Office, and ADM offices. - Executive Support:
Provide strategic advice and analysis; review briefing materials and ensure timely delivery for meetings and decisions. - Policy & Legislative Oversight:
Coordinate review of major policies, legislation, regulations, and Cabinet documents; ensure integration with ministry priorities. - Leadership & Operations:
Assist with managing DMO operations, including staffing, performance management, and building collaborative relationships across divisions.
- Systems Thinking:
Anticipates outcomes and aligns actions with long-term objectives and APS values. - Drive for Results:
Removes barriers and ensures timely completion of ministry priorities. - Develop Networks:

- Minimum University graduation in a related field (Political Science, Public Administration, Social Sciences, Arts, Business Administration, Economics, or other related field).
- Seven (7) or more years of experience in a public service environment, including experience with:
- Government policy development cycle and legislative processes.
- Strategic analysis and issues management.
- Leadership in complex, politically sensitive environments.
- Knowledge of Alberta’s political system, government mandates, and decision-making processes.
- Direct supervision of employees.
- Prior experience in a Deputy Minister’s Office and/or Executive Council office (e.g., Policy Coordination Office, Cabinet Coordination Office).
- A graduate degree in a related field.
- Hours Of Work: 36.25 hours per week (full time) Monday to Friday.
- Term Of Employment:
This is a full-time permanent position. - Location:
Petroleum Plaza Building North Tower, Edmonton.
Final candidates will be required to undergo an academic credentials verification and security screening.
