Join a team dedicated to providing safe and affordable housing across Nunavut. We are looking for skilled and culturally sensitive professionals who are committed to making a meaningful impact in Northern communities.
As independent, community-focused units, Local Housing Organizations (LHOs) operate within the framework of the Inuit Societal Values and strive to provide most of the day-to-day services associated with program delivery to individuals and families. The 25 LHOs partner with the Nunavut Housing Corporation, to deliver housing programs and manage assets.
The Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) is an agency of the Government of Nunavut with a mandate to create, co-ordinate, and administer housing programs to provide fair access to a range of affordable housing options to families and individuals in Nunavut. NHC has recently launched The Nunavut 3000 Strategy, ( which is a collaboration between the government and its partners to deliver 3,000 new units across the housing continuum by 2030.
_ Several Local Housing Organizations are seeking a Housing Manager (multiple locations) to manage their daily operations. These positions will be based on a 37.5 hour work week with occasional overtime, as necessary _.
Reporting to the respective LHO Board of Directors, the Housing Manager leads the day-to-day operations of the Local Housing Organization (LHO), ensuring effective management and oversight of all housing services. This includes guiding and supporting the entire LHO staff team-spanning maintenance, tenant relations, administration, and board support-to deliver quality housing services to the community. The key responsibilities of this position include the following:
Leads and guides LHO staff while ensuring culturally responsive and effective service delivery.
Ensures housing units are maintained (on-demand and preventative maintenance) at an optimum level of repair within established budgets and costs constraints.
Identifies annual budget requirements for approval and co-ordinates and monitors expenditures to ensure maximum value is received from allocated funds with budgeted items.
Ensures that housing units are fairly allocated, and tenants are fully aware of, and accept their responsibilities.
Provides guidance to the Board of Directors on matters that come before it, including corporation programs, policies and requirements, financial and budget information, housing allocations, etc.
Acts as secretary to the Board during meetings. Ensure minutes are completed and that within two weeks of the meeting they are submitted to NHC.

Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Requirements Includes the Following:
Post-secondary education in community or public administration, business administration, social sciences or related degree equivalent;
Property Management Certification would be considered an asset.
2years of Property Management and/or Housing Maintenance experience.
Financial Management skills including budgeting and bookkeeping.
Computer training and experience.
3 years Supervisory/management experience.
Proven experience working in a cross-cultural environment, including a solid understanding of Nunavut's Inuit Societal Values (ISV) to foster a respectful, efficient, and culturally responsive work environment.
Experience working in unionized environments would be considered an asset.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Compensation Package
Annual Salary ranging from $105,000 to $135,000 based on skills, experience and the community in which the position is based.
A Northern Allowance of $16,008 to $43,588 per year, depending on the community.
Enrollment in the NEBS Pension Plan and Insurance.
3 weeks of paid vacation to start plus 2 weeks paid leave in lieu of overtime.
Subsidized Housing is available.
