Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager is accountable for the safe and timely delivery of construction projects. The Senior Project Manager creates an environment for construction execution excellence. The Senior Project Manager encompasses the simultaneous management of several projects ranging anywhere in value from $5,000.00 to $20,. They are directly accountable for the profitability of each of the projects they manage and are constantly looking for opportunities to improve on the delivery and customer experience of substation construction projects.

The Senior Project Manager needs to work closely with the VP Operations, Manager, Project Management and VP Shared Services, Construction Manager, Quality Manager, HSSE Manager, Fleet Manager, and Field Supervisors to ensure all client/owners expectations are met or exceeded.

• Professional Engineer or Registered Technologist certification, or technical trade certification.
• PMI designation is preferred.
• P. Eng designation considered an asset.

• 15+ years of Project Management experience.
• 10+ years of managing construction projects.
• Extensive and broad high voltage construction experience

• Progressive project management, change management, and planning skills.
• Detailed knowledge of substation construction sequencing and methods.
• Advanced project management specific financial acumen, specifically in forecasting, estimating, and accruals.
• Understanding of the procurement and purchasing process.
• Comfortable running EPC projects.
• Understanding of engineering design and development processes.
• Ability to resolve complex issues in a timely manner.
• Superior client and relationship management skills.
• Comfortable and proficient with computer software such as excel, MPP and word.

• This position is a mix of office and field work. A small portion of this position’s time will require field work.

The Senior Project Manager performs a wide range of duties including some or all the following:

• Define the scope and budget of the project in collaboration with senior management.
• Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
• Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project.
• Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the correct activities.
• Develop a project financial forecast that meets or exceeds the proposal gross margin.
• Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required.
• Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion (Lessons Learned).
