Job Description

We are seeking a skilled machinist to set up plates on a Mazak milling machine, touch off tools, and run the machines while ensuring parts meet a 1 thou tolerance. The role involves changing inserts and tooling, primarily working with QT100 plates to produce oilfield products such as hubs, plates, and components. This position suits individuals comfortable with programming languages and capable of making adjustments in the machine interface.

Responsibilities

• Set up plates on Mazak milling machines.
• Touch off tools and operate machinery.
• Ensure parts meet a 1 thou tolerance.
• Change inserts and tooling as required.
• Work with QT100 plates to manufacture oilfield products.
• Handle up to 100 parts per run.
• Make necessary programming adjustments and interface changes.

Essential Skills

• Experience with CNC mill or lathe.
• Proficiency in setting up, operating, and making changes on machines.
• Some programming experience with Mazatrol and Gcode.
• Ability to work with 1 thou tolerance.
• Experience handling offsets.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Journeyman or Unticketed Machinist.
• Experience with Mazak machinery and Mazatrol programming systems.
• Familiarity with oilfield, automotive, or aviation manufacturing.
• Experience with Mazatrol, Fanuc, Heidenhain, and Fagor controls.
• API threading experience.

Work Environment

Located in SE Calgary on Sheppard Road, the work environment offers expansion opportunities in 2026. The night shift runs from Monday to Thursday, 2:30 pm to 1:00 am, with a premium for afternoon shifts. Initial training will take place during the day for approximately two weeks. The facility provides a collaborative environment with a focus on safety and precision.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
