Description
We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician in a permanent full-time position to join our team of skilled professionals based at our Calgary Plant. This state-of-the-art manufacturing plant produces premium roofing shingles in a high speed, continuous, asphalt shingle manufacturing process environment.
Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of a quality plan to drive continuous improvement in plant performance, and assuring that finished product complies with company, industry and government standards.

Perform tests in the Laboratory on key parameters associated with the quality assurance of finished productsMonitors the quality of finished products in Real time, resolves with production team and escalates quality issues on a timely basisMonitors quality impact of new production processes, methods, or equipmentImplements ongoing quality improvement processes and procedures working with interdepartmental teams and with the involvement of the production employeesSupport the development and implementation of a quality plan to drive continuous improvement in plant performanceMeasures quality assurance metrics to opportunities for improvement, progress on goals and accountability for performanceIdentifies, troubleshoots and drives resolution of production quality deficiencies and problemsEscalate quality assurance issues to the Quality team and Plant management on a timely basisEnsures that the Lab equipment is calibrated and in good condition and communicates material and spare requirements in advanceCollates and analyses performance data and charts against defined parametersWorks with shipping to ensure that outgoing products are sorted segregated, isolated and downgraded as per disposition from the quality teamQualifications
Diploma or Degree in a Science related field1-3 years of experience in an industrial process manufacturing environment in a quality assurance role with hands-on experience with quality management systems preferredProficient with MS Excel, Word, Power Point Ability to lift 25lbs - Lifting bundles of shinglesExperience working in a Laboratory environment and calibrating troubleshooting instruments will be an assetAbility to prioritize tasks a fast-paced environment where tests results may be required quicklyCommunication:
