Welder

General Description

Under the direction and supervision of the Team Lead, Welders are responsible for overseeing the accurate and efficient completion of welding related activities in accordance with applicable company practice and legislation. Welders fabricate or repair heavy and large mechanical products using various welding methods per specifications and within assigned schedules or timelines.

• Perform welding duties using GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, TIG, oxy/acetylene cutting, plasma cutting, gouging, and lancing.
• Weld steel components with equipment as specified by procedures, layouts, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, or oral instructions. Welds range from tacking and jig work to complex welds, performed in varying positions.
• Set up, lay out work using fixtures and guides to repair, modify, or fabricate parts and/or equipment products.
• Operate or use related equipment and tools which include forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders (portable & bench), cutting torches, hand tools, drills, and punches.
• Keep equipment operations performing checks prior to use and flag faulty equipment; complete daily check sheets.
• Read, understand and follow job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions, and procedures.
• Maintain level of work performance in accordance with standards and/or job order specifications.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Perform maintenance inspections on machines to meet scheduled requirements and follow through.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
