Senior SAGD Operator

Connacher Oil and Gas Limited ("Connacher") has an opportunity for a Senior SAGD Operator, reporting to the Manager, Operations. This position is based at the Connacher Algar SAGD Facility located 80km South of Fort McMurray. This is a fly-in/fly-out rotation with seven days on and seven days off. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and team-oriented, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong operator experience with previous SAGD experience and control room operations, process monitoring and plant optimization.

Connacher is a Calgary-based in-situ oilsands producer. Connacher’s principal asset is a 100 percent interest in Connacher’s Great Divide oil sands leases near Fort McMurray, Alberta. Connacher operates two SAGD facilities and is currently executing a development plan to increase and maintain production of approximately 23,000 bbls/day.

Responsibilities

Operate and monitor SAGD processes from the control room (steam generation, water treatment, production systems)

Perform field inspections, equipment checks, and log process data

Lead or support plant start-ups, shutdowns, and troubleshooting activities

Execute safe work practices (LOTO, permitting, hazard assessments)

Maintain accurate shift logs and provide clear handovers

Collaborate closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams

Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships and leadership capability

Highly self‑motivated and able to work with minimal supervision; organized with excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education and Experience

2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate (preferred qualification)

10+ years of operating experience in SAGD, conventional oil & gas, or petrochemical facilities (required)

Strong understanding of plant operations, safety systems, and process control (DCS)

Must hold a valid Class‑5 driver’s license and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
