General Production Worker
Job Description
This role involves working on a manual production line in a glass manufacturing environment, focusing on building windows and handling glass components. You will carry glass, assemble window units, apply silicone, and use basic hand tools while following production instructions and safety procedures. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, perform repetitive tasks with accuracy, and use minimal computer functions as part of the production process.
Responsibilities
- Work on a manual production line to build and assemble window units according to production requirements.
- Carry and handle glass safely throughout the production process, using assisted lifting for heavier units when required.
- Apply silicone and other sealants to windows and glass units with attention to detail and quality standards.
- Use hand tools such as hammers, drills, and caulking guns to complete assembly and installation tasks.
- Measure materials using an imperial tape measure to ensure components meet specified dimensions.
- Interpret and follow basic blueprints and production drawings to assemble products correctly.
- Operate production machinery and equipment related to glass cutting, handling, and processing as trained.
- Support glass cutting operations using machines and assist with glass installation tasks when needed.
- Use overhead cranes and other lifting equipment safely to move glass and larger units after training.
- Perform general production and general labor duties, including organizing materials and maintaining workflow on the line.
- Follow established glass handling procedures and safety guidelines at all times to protect yourself, coworkers, and materials.
- Use basic computer functions to support production tasks, such as simple data entry or machine interface use, as required.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including tools, equipment, and production stations.
- Collaborate with team members and lead hands at each station to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training to learn and improve glass handling, machine operation, and production procedures.
Essential Skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly during the workday.
- Experience using common hand tools such as hammers, drills, and caulking guns.
- Proficiency with an imperial tape measure to take accurate measurements.
- Ability to interpret and follow basic blueprints and production drawings.
- General production or general labor experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, machinery, and moving parts.
- Basic computer aptitude sufficient for minimal data entry or simple machine interfaces.
- Comfort working with glass, including careful handling and attention to safety.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with glass cutting using a machine.
- Glass handling and glass installation.
- Experience operating an overhead crane for material handling.
- Exposure to CNC laser equipment or similar automated machinery.
- Blueprint reading skills beyond basic interpretation.
- Previous experience in a production, assembly, or glass manufacturing environment.
