Plant Operator

Overview

Production operator in Calgary responsible for transferring incoming raw product from tanker trucks, operating specialised equipment to process the raw material into a dried finished product, and packaging the product for shipment under strict guidelines.

Competitive hourly wage starting $ with an increase to 28.07$ after 3 months. Progressive wage scale from 27.55$ up to 37.13$. Steady and prédicable work schedule: working twelve‑hour shifts on a day and night rotation. Day shift hours are 6:00 – 18:00; night shift hours are 18:00 – 6:00. Team work and collaborative work environment.

• Unloading of animal blood using hoses and pumps.
• Lab testing of incoming animal blood to ensure compliance with operational guidelines.
• Preparation and cleaning of the tanker using an automated and manual washing system.
• Separation, concentration and drying of raw product.
• Bagging of finished product in powder format while wearing a protective mask.
• Carrying and piling 25 kg (55 lbs) bags of finished products or chemicals.
• Operating specialised equipment to further process the finished product for shipment.
• Following sample procedures for third‑party lab tests.
• Cleaning any process spill (animal blood and similar product).
• Monitoring and recording process data on a computer.
• Maintaining required documentation related to duties.
• Performing housekeeping tasks (cleaning equipment and floors as per process and housekeeping rules).

• Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• Previous experience as an equipment operator.
• Knowledge in HACCP.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a multicultural team environment.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to communicate in English.

• Standing for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift 55 lbs repetitively.
• Being in good physical condition.
