Plant Operator

Overview  Production operator in Calgary responsible for transferring incoming raw product from tanker trucks, operating specialised equipment to process the raw material into a dried finished product, and packaging the product for shipment under strict guidelines.
Compensation and Schedule  Competitive hourly wage starting $ with an increase to 28.07$ after 3 months. Progressive wage scale from 27.55$ up to 37.13$. Steady and prédicable work schedule: working twelve‑hour shifts on a day and night rotation. Day shift hours are 6:00 – 18:00; night shift hours are 18:00 – 6:00. Team work and collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities   Unloading of animal blood using hoses and pumps.
Lab testing of incoming animal blood to ensure compliance with operational guidelines.
Preparation and cleaning of the tanker using an automated and manual washing system.
Separation, concentration and drying of raw product.
Bagging of finished product in powder format while wearing a protective mask.
Carrying and piling 25 kg (55 lbs) bags of finished products or chemicals.
Operating specialised equipment to further process the finished product for shipment.
Following sample procedures for third‑party lab tests.
Cleaning any process spill (animal blood and similar product).
Monitoring and recording process data on a computer.
Maintaining required documentation related to duties.
Performing housekeeping tasks (cleaning equipment and floors as per process and housekeeping rules).
Qualifications   Grade 12 education or equivalent.
Previous experience as an equipment operator.
Knowledge in HACCP.
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
Ability to work in a multicultural team environment.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to communicate in English.

Physical Requirements   Standing for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift 55 lbs repetitively.
Being in good physical condition.
