Position: Production Supervisor (Afternoon Shift)

Pay or shift range: $55,000 CAD to $65,000 CAD. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Foothills Creamery has proudly produced dairy products and served Western Canada for over 50 years. We produce butter and ice cream, now offering over 80 different flavors of ice cream, sorbet, sherbet, and soft serve. We take pride in using locally sourced ingredients and continue to use the same old-fashioned, barrel churned techniques as we did in 1969.

Job Purpose:

The Production Supervisor is an integral role in driving and supporting our business goals and objectives for profitable, sustainable growth improving performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability through effective methods and strategies. The Production Supervisor provides excellent leadership, will “lead by example” and act as a proactive liaison between the Production Manager, and the production personnel. This individual will be responsible in ensuring production remains on schedule and lead the production personnel to champion change initiatives and continuous improvement.

The Production Supervisor has direct responsibility for afternoon production in Foothills Creamery’s manufacturing process.
This role is on a 2pm-10pm schedule;
Monday-Friday.

What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate daily production floor activities and ensure that products meet company standards and required specifications
  • Oversee production and sanitation duties performed by staff and verify accompanying production and sanitation records
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and mentoring personnel
  • Provide leadership and commitment in support of continuing improvements in quality, productivity, and delivery performance
  • Build productive, positive relationships across the Production teams and understand the inter-dependencies of company divisions and departments
  • Foster the talent development of staff by designating cross-training duties and maintaining a skills matrix for all production personnel
  • Attend and participate regular production meetings to foster sharing of ideas and communication of company strategy and initiatives
  • Provide leadership and commitment in support of continuing improvements in quality, productivity, and delivery performance
  • Champion positive cultural change and employee engagement through collaboration, communication, accountability
  • Support Health and Safety policies and help conduct workplace inspections to ensure compliance
  • Provide direction to workforce in a manufacturing environment; establish production priorities and schedules consistent with unit goals
  • Perform assignments and directives provided by the Production Manager and the Director of Operations
  • Maintain a regular meeting schedule to ensure all productions employees are engaged and committed to achieving operational goals
  • Manage morale in the department by setting and demonstrating the standard for working with employees, suppliers and customers
What You’ll Need
  • 2-4 years of experience in Dairy or Food Production, Manufacturing, Industrial Process Operations or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of Supervisor experience – preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to adapt effectively within a continually changing and demanding environment
  • Knowledge of safe food handling practices.
  • Proficient communication skills to maintain high levels of Safety and Efficiency
  • Solid understanding of the products produced, and manufacturing process involved
  • Physical ability to lift (up to) 60lbs and frequently walk throughout the Plant
