Forklift Operator - Seasonal
Overview
The Forklift Operator is committed to providing the customer with the highest quality product in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Responsibilities- Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), wearing the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas.
- Adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or SQF requirements.
- Operate forklifts and/or related machinery in a safe, efficient and productive manner.
- Conduct trailer inspections, load full good trailers and unload Porto‑Pets.
- Clean the shipping area as required including mopping the PIT area, 18 perimeter, emptying the garbages, emptying the cardboard bins and all other cleaning duties as assigned by Lead‑hands.
- Relieve on the production lines for breaks as per relief schedule and line operator requirements.
- Report hazardous conditions that could cause an accident or unsafe working condition to management; report incidents, accidents or near misses suffered during the work shift to management.
- Participate in, when requested, hazard assessments and analysis.
- Report to management and/or Inventory Control any discrepancies in inventory accuracy in the inventory management system SAP.
- Assist the site to continuously improve efficiency, performance, and reduce downtime and waste.
- Promote enthusiastic, positive and proactive attitudes and team‑based behaviors.
- Commit to successfully achieving the goals and objectives of the team, the department and the company.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
- Valid forklift certification.
- Approximately 3+ years in a fast‑moving packaged goods workplace; beverage production experience preferred.
- Good interpersonal & communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Solid understanding of production machinery/forklifts, including an awareness of technical issues.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
- Formal training in areas such as WHIMIS, HACCP, Hygiene, etc. preferred.
- High School certification.
- 3‑5 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in SAP.
- Shifts:
rotation shifts are required for this position. - Continuously standing or walking with regular requirements to lift, handle or carry material or equipment of moderate weight.
- Requires regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time.
- Work environment is very repetitive.
- There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.
