Operations Manager Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee manufacturing and operational performance across multiple facilities in Canada.
Based in Calgary with regular travel required to the Toronto area. The position plays a key role in aligning operations with business growth objectives.
Qualifications- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within manufacturing environments
- Track record of driving operational improvements, efficiency gains, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Knowledge and hands‑on experience with Lean manufacturing principles and process optimization tools
- Experience in furniture manufacturing, upholstery, woodworking, cabinetry, or related custom manufacturing industries preferred
- Experience working with ERP systems
- Ability to manage production scheduling, inventory flow, and operational performance metrics
- Experience leading or supporting multi‑site operations is considered a strong asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and troubleshoot production equipment and processes
- Hands‑on leadership style balancing strategic thinking and day‑to‑day execution
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, focused on measurable results
- Education in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Oversee end‑to‑end manufacturing operations across multiple sites, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and on‑time delivery are consistently achieved
- Maintain a solid, hands‑on presence on the production floor to monitor performance, resolve issues in real time, and drive accountability
- Lead daily operations including production planning, inventory flow, procurement coordination, and equipment reliability
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement process improvements to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve output
- Apply Lean methodologies (Kaizen, Kanban, continuous improvement practices) to enhance productivity and operational performance
- Establish, track, and report on key operational KPIs including labour efficiency, throughput, quality, and delivery performance
- Support and enhance ERP systems and internal reporting tools to improve visibility, planning, and decision‑making
- Drive adoption of digital processes, standardised workflows, and data‑driven operational practices
- Lead structured problem‑solving initiatives related to production delays, supply chain disruptions, and quality issues
- Build, lead, and develop high‑performing teams through coaching, mentorship, and performance management
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across all levels of the organisation
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align manufacturing capabilities with business needs and customer expectations
- Ensure alignment and communication across multiple locations through regular engagement and travel
