Material Handler, Manufacturing & Industrial Operations
The Material Handler is an integral part of the Production team and is responsible for maintaining efficient material flow in alignment with production schedules. This role is critical to ensure that production and SMT lines operate continuously with minimal downtime. The Material Handler reports directly to the Materials Manager and works closely with the Production and Supply Chain teams.
Key Responsibilities- Pick, kit, and deliver materials to the production and SMT floors.
- Receive, inspect, and store inbound materials; work with the Procurement team to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate receiving and inventory records to support inventory integrity and traceability.
- Ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained on the production and SMT floors while following FIFO.
- Replenish Kanban bins for production lines, including assembly, through‑hole, SMT, and potting operations.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to identify upcoming shortages of Kanban or consumable items, such as packaging and hardware.
- Perform cycle counts according to ABC inventory classifications.
- Assist with packing, labeling inventory, and preparing pallets for shipment in accordance with shipping requirements.
- Identify and implement appropriate bin‑sizing of inventory items.
- Maintain accuracy of part usage and scrap by investigating discrepancies and correcting errors.
- Function as a gatekeeper for inventory to maintain accuracy, prevent unauthorized material movement, and support inventory integrity.
- Experience with ERP systems;
Net Suite experience is preferred. - Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Experience working in electronics manufacturing is an asset.
- 2 years’ experience handling materials and doing inventory management functions.
- Detail‑oriented with a passion for inventory accuracy.
- Experience operating in a material handling role within a Lean Manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of warehouse optimization principles.
- Proven ability to maintain a positive, professional attitude, build strong collaborative relationships across departments, and work independently.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
This position requires the use of CSA Grade 1 toe protection safety footwear. Applicants must have access to a pair of safety footwear that meets this requirement prior to starting employment.
