Process Engineer (Food Extrusion) Responsibilities Optimize extrusion, drying, coating, milling, and packaging operations to maximize throughput, yield, and efficiency while minimizing waste and downtime.
Scale new products from pilot trials to commercial production by partnering with R&D, validating processing parameters, and documenting manufacturing specs.
Lead equipment upgrades, capital projects, and new equipment commissioning; collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance on reliability and automation improvements.
Drive Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives, conduct root cause analysis, implement CAPAs, and improve OEE and manufacturing KPIs.
Ensure all processes meet BRCGS, HACCP, and customer quality standards; support audits and foster a strong food safety culture.
Serve as the technical liaison between Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D to ensure seamless communication and successful product launches.
Process Engineer (Food Extrusion) Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in chemical, Process, Food, or Mechanical Engineering.
Solid 5–10 years in food manufacturing or process engineering; extrusion experience and plant protein/snack/ingredient backgrounds are assets.
P.Eng. or eligibility preferred;
Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt and HACCP/BRCGS certifications are assets.
Proficient in SPC, data analysis, and MS Office; familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, MES/ERP, and process automation platforms is a plus.
Equipment commissioning, process troubleshooting, GMPs, food safety compliance, and cross-functional project leadership.
Class 5 license and own transportation is desired
Able to provide 2 professional references
Able to pass a background check if needed
