POSITION OVERVIEW:
Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting an Apprentice Machinist to work on our dayshift at our Shepard Shop facility (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB T2C 4R6).
The successful candidate will work with the Production Leadership Team, Drafting/Engineering, and shop floor employees to coordinate efforts to meet production schedules, quality, and safety requirements.
Shift 5:50-4:20 (4 days/week,10 hours/day).
Overtime is as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Journeyperson Certificate (Red Seal Interprovincial preferred) 5+ years of machining experience Experience with manual programming and CAM software (Mastercam) Ability to run both CNC and Manual machines Strong mechanical aptitude Collaborative team player with positive engagement Strong organizational and communication skills; both written and verbal Ability to read and interpret drawings KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI): PRODUCTION (Weighting 80%) Machine Setup & Operation Operates and maintains lathe and milling machines.
Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment .
Quality Control Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production.
Monitors production, adjusts feed, and other settings as necessary.
Checks output for quality assurance and documents defects .
SAFETY (Weighting 20%) Maintenance Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
Maintains a safe and clean work area.
Promotes and enforces a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with safety policies and conducting regular briefings.
Documentation Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Ensures accurate documentation of production, quality, and safety records.
