Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for handling outgoing shipments to clients via Company delivery services. The Shipper picks, packages, and prepares products for shipping. The Shipper schedules delivery with internal transportation, monitors material on the loading dock, tracks and troubleshoots issues with delivery. The Shipper works closely with other internal departments to ensure the correct client material and products are properly shipped.

This position is a full-time permanent position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Pull, pack, weigh and label materials, assemble stock onto pallets, warehouse trucks, and shelves. Prepare items for shipment as dictated by size and weight.
  • Schedule internal delivery transportation for shipment to clients.
  • Prepare shipping documentation and verify packaging quantities.
  • Monitor the loading dock and observe materials to be loaded to ensure the proper shipments are transported according to client requirements.
  • P erform quality assurance inspections when appropriate.
  • Maintain appropriate forms and track shipped goods enroute to their destination ensuring any problems that may arise are resolved to avoid delay.
  • Inspect the condition of any returned material, ensure if not damaged that the product is restored in the warehouse for future use.
  • Communicate with Sales, Client Services and Clients to resolve errors and discrepancies.
  • Maintain a variety of shipping-related files and records for referencing orders.
  • Maintain shipping area to ensure it is safe and accessible for employees.
  • Clean and maintain a safe and tidy working environment.
  • Instruct temporary employees on best practices for multiple tasks when necessary.
  • Complete additional tasks as required.
  • Comply with all occupational health and safety requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • High school diploma or relevant experience.
  • Previous shipping/courier experience working in a client focused role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to read, interpret and analyze documents.
  • Good reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and effective organization skills.
  • Basic mathematic ability and computer skills.
  • Able to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment with minimum supervision. Self-directed and able to prioritize work and juggle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to be resourceful and adapt easily to changing priorities and circumstances.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a mature, responsible attitude.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work reasonable overtime hours when required to meet customer demands.
  • A moderate amount of physical effort will be required to perform the duties of the job. In a typical day, the incumbent will be expected to stand and walk for up to 7 hours or more, perform repetitive tasks, and lift, carry, and stack up to 50lbs regularly.
