As a Manufacturing Team Member (Tool Crib Lead), you are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the tool crib area, ensuring the availability of the tools, materials, equipment, and supplies required to support efficient manufacturing operations. You are accountable for managing tool crib inventory, maintaining accurate inventory and tool usage records, coordinating tooling repairs and replenishment as needed, and supporting continuous improvement of tool crib processes.
Working under the direction of the Production Supervisor, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production requirements while ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, and company standards.
- Manage the daily operation and organization of the tool crib.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Issue, receive, inspect, and track tools and equipment.
- Coordinate tool repairs, calibration, and replacement.
- Monitor inventory levels and initiate replenishment requests.
- Develop and maintain tool crib procedures and standard work instructions.
- Maintain accurate records within the inventory management system.
- Identify opportunities to improve tool crib organization, inventory control, and operational efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support production.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and report any discrepancies to the Production Supervisor.
- Facilitate reordering of tools and supplies to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Inspect tools and equipment upon return for wear, damage, or other issues.
- Ensure tools meet safety and quality standards before distribution.
- Follow all safety protocols when handling tools and equipment.
- Report any unsafe conditions or damaged tools to the Production Supervisor immediately.
- Maintain a clean and organized tool crib area to prevent hazards and improve efficiency.
- Keep detailed logs of tool check-outs, returns, and repairs using inventory management software.
- Prepare and submit reports on tool usage and inventory levels as requested by the supervisor.
- Communicate with the Production Supervisor and production teams to anticipate tool requirements.
- Assist with training new employees on the proper procedures for tool handling and inventory management.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
- Experience with tools, equipment, materials, and inventory processes commonly used in manufacturing.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tool crib activities, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.
