The Stampede is a not‑for‑profit, volunteer‑supported organization with 35 volunteer committees and 3,000 volunteers. The Taste of Stampede Committee is focused on creating hands‑on, immersive and entertaining experiences that celebrate culinary leaders and producers through engaging showcases and competitions. Reporting to the Chair of Taste of Stampede Committee, we are looking for a Subcommittee Chair to lead Social Media, Marketing & Communications. The subcommittee Chair will be responsible for all activities related to communication outlets.
Responsibilities- Managing and engaging social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok and X
- Responding to messages, inquiries, and comments to foster positive engagement
- Maintaining a consistent, unified brand voice across all platforms in alignment with committee social media guidelines at the Calgary Stampede
- Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with key stakeholders, including, Board of Directors, other Committees, Committee Volunteers, members of the public and staff
- Collaborate with the programming team to help shape the future vision of the Taste of the Stampede program
- Attending Calgary Stampede‑sanctioned events and capturing live social media content
- Creating and curating engaging content, including written posts, photos, and videos
- Assisting in the planning and implementation of a social media strategy aimed at increasing visibility and engagement
- Personal cellphone and computer equipment are required for this role. Please be aware that some areas of the park have limited Wi‑Fi access, which may affect connectivity in certain locations
- A strong passion for social media and a deep understanding of major platforms and management tools
- Previous experience in social media management and content creation (volunteer or professional experience preferred)
- Creative mindset with the ability to craft engaging content that aligns with the committee’s vision
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team while also being a self‑starter
- Ability to solve problems through collaboration
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to positively influence and communicate
- September – June:
Monthly meetings (2 hours) - April – June: ~5 hours per month
- 4–6 shifts (~4 hours each shift)
- Ideally onsite daily to oversee media
