Role Summary - This is a 12- 18 Month Term Contract Role Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Content and Communications, the Specialist, Communications and Channels plays a key role in supporting the objectives of the Strategy, Research and Communications (SRC) team, as outlined in the annual operations plan.

This role supports the execution of the content and channel management plans to share critical resources, insights and information with key corporate stakeholders, including the tourism industry, Alberta residents, and internal team members.

Working collaboratively across the organization, the role helps elevate Travel Alberta’s profile as a leading destination management organization by contributing to high quality communications products that are delivered on time through clearly defined processes and channels.

Whether through a briefing note or news release, a web page or video, they understand how to craft a compelling narrative that will resonate with their target audience and can do so effectively. A skilled writer with a keen attention to detail, the Specialist creates precise, effective content including articles, social media posts, news releases, briefing materials, thought leadership content, and key messages.

Supported by the Manager, Corporate Content and Communications, the Specialist assist in translating organizational priorities into compelling communications products and supports the maintenance of a shared editorial calendar, coordinating inputs, deadlines, approvals, and distribution across teams.

The role functions as both a communicator and an internal resource, staying on top of processes, workflows, and interdependencies across the SEC team and the broader organization while also remaining flexible and adaptable in response to shifting priorities.

This includes supporting internal communications channels, breaking down silos through information-sharing practices, and helping teams navigate systems, tools, and timelines.

The Specialist is knowledge-oriented and service-minded, acting as a trusted resource who understands organizational priorities, research outputs, and corporate processes, and who helps others access and use information effectively.

A strong working knowledge of excel is essential.

Working closely with the Corporate Graphics Specialist, the Specialist helps transform research, insights, and testimonials into compelling visual assets.

The role also supports video and web projects by working from established briefs, timelines, and feedback.

Success in this role requires a proactive, highly organized self-starter who can thrive in complexity, think in systems, and bring both rigor and helpfulness to a fast-paced, collaborative communications environment.

Key Responsibilities Channel management and content development:
Identifies ideas and creates compelling and effective content in alignment with Travel Alberta’s corporate communications calendar, in a variety of formats for a range of audiences and channels, such as, but not limited to:
Industry Hub content, web pages, news and articles.

Social media content (Twitter, Linked In).

  • “Connections” e-newsletter articles targeting industry stakeholders.
