Position: Associate Creative Director (Copywriter)

We’re looking for an Associate Creative Director (Copywriter) to help make the work better. You’d join our Calgary office to work on a variety of national (and sometimes international) brands. Job Description:

In partnership with the Associate Creative Director (Art Direction), you work closely with the creative team to produce high‑quality work for the agency’s clients. Alongside account service representatives, the Associate Creative Director maintains client contact and presents the team’s creative concepts to client stakeholders. On assigned accounts, you provide leadership to art directors and copywriters, in collaboration with the Executive Creative Director.

You also work closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver and exceed client expectations.

What you will do…
  • Develop ideas for integrated advertising campaigns, including websites, social media, OOH, digital content, broadcast, experiential, and beyond
  • Create and direct award‑worthy work, and serve as the copy expert for assigned brands
  • Serve as a creative team leader others can look to for direction and solutions
  • Play a key role in brand planning, creative development, and on‑strategy initiatives
  • Work with all functional areas to ensure the work expresses a compelling, single‑minded idea
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop best practices
  • Partner with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and communicate solutions effectively
  • Confidently present and sell ideas based on the brief, in partnership with key stakeholders
  • Identify staffing needs and support recruitment efforts
  • Help shape the careers of direct reports and act as a strong mentor, inspiring award‑winning creative excellence
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and design innovation to enhance creative output
  • Support the Executive Creative Director in day‑to‑day needs
  • 8+ years of experience in a fast‑paced ad agency
  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional creativity and the ability to craft ideas (

  • Award‑winning projects as part of your portfolio, not only that, but just as part of a whole.
  • Strong understanding of how strategy shapes brand messaging and creative
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • A clear, effective, and persuasive presenter
  • Ability to negotiate effectively while maintaining creative integrity
  • Proven ability to build trust with clients
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Proactive mentality to not only deliver what is required, but also what will build greatness
