Job Overview The Event Coordinator is responsible for organizing and managing a portfolio of peer-to-peer fundraising events, including Parkinson Canada Super Walk, Super Mom Walk/Run, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, Growling Beaver, and Fundraising Your Way (third-party fundraising), which are primarily aimed at raising funds for Parkinson Canada. This role involves overseeing all logistical aspects of the events, and building relationships with participants, donors, sponsors, and volunteers, ensuring that financial targets are met.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, creative, and skilled at relationship building, with a passion for fundraising.
What You’ll Be Doing Fundraising through Participant, Donor, and Sponsor Engagement Cultivate relationships with participants, donors, and sponsors, ensuring they feel valued and engaged in Parkinson Canada’s mission.
Manage all points of the event cycle for a portfolio of top fundraisers and team captains from recruitment, to goal setting/team building, fundraising coaching, to communicating the impact of the funds raised.
Handle participant and donor inquiries and ensure timely and accurate communication before, during, and after events.
Identify and solicit potential sponsors to contribute financially or in‑kind support for events.
Collaborate with the Philanthropy team to identify high‑capacity event participants and donors.
Work with Events team to leverage the Convio Luminate and Team Raiser platform for optimum fundraiser stewardship and implement fundraising best practices.
Event Planning and Management Work with Events team to execute a portfolio of Super Walk, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, Growling Beaver, and Fundraising Your Way events across Canada.
Implement strategic plan for the Super Walk, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, Growling Beaver, and Fundraising Your Way event(s) each year.
Work closely with the event management and marketing teams to promote local events through promotional materials, emails, social media, and paid media opportunities.
Manage the local event pages, updating with key information such as route maps, sponsor logos, and event day agendas.
Lead volunteers and committees as required (with support of the Volunteer Coordinators).
Manage local vendors and supporter relationships.
Organize and lead face‑to‑face meetings as required.
Hold monthly, conference calls with volunteer event coordinators.
Build capacity, including delivery of volunteer training programs.
Ensure the management of bookings, insurance, and permits as required for events within portfolio.
Ensure the ordering, preparation, and development of all requisite promotional and logistical materials. Support customization, orienting, etc. of these materials for events within portfolio.
Work with other staff to ensure efficient and timely distribution of said materials.
Analyze the success of each event and provide detailed post‑event reports to recommend improvements for future events and fundraising efforts.
Team Collaboration Be a positive ambassador for Parkinson Canada.
Participate in team and staff meetings and provide ideas for improvement.
Share in handling workload for positive results.
Contribute to other projects and initiatives as needed.
Work to build cooperative relationships with all Parkinson Canada colleagues.
Qualifications Post‑secondary degree in appropriate discipline.
Minimum of 2 (two) years of progressive fundraising experience, with a proven track record in event management.
Experience in volunteer management is required.
Familiarity with key event management concepts (maintenance of critical path, etc.).
Demonstrated understanding of sponsorship.
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, budgetary and presentation skills.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent research, analytical and written skills.
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, Online Event Fundraising Software).
Demonstrated ability to be flexible.
Client service driven with a proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
Requirements Ability to travel within Canada.
Valid G driver’s license required.
Must be comfortable driving a panel van or cube truck for events as required.
Must be able to lift and carry 25‑50 pounds.
