ThePosition
As part of the Philanthropy team, the Manager, Major Gifts is responsible for developing and engaging a portfolio of major gift philanthropists through individual engagement and relationship‑building. The key focus will be on raising funds toward annual revenue goals through the successful cultivation, stewardship and solicitation of foundations, donors and prospects. Focused on growing the qualified pipeline of donors and prospects under $25,000, the portfolio will be approx.
25% engaging with committed $10K+ donors and 75% working with mid‑tier/leadership donors to enhance their connection and investment with Plan.
We are looking for a driven candidate who will foster a high‑growth approach to philanthropy; someone comfortable leading solicitation and stewardship with current donors and cultivating leadership donors into larger philanthropic investments, supporting their commitment and action to gender equality as we are. Our successful candidate will have experience working with and engaging with donors and prospects and bringing them deeper into relationship and championship for the mission.
Whatsuccess looks like?
- Cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a robust qualified and optimized portfolio of individual donors and prospects who have the desire and capacity to give at gift levels of $10,000+.
- Cultivation and engagement of long‑time Plan donors, qualifying MG capacity and inspiring them to explore deeper ways to give and engage with the organization.
- Implement creative cultivation and solicitation strategies that inspire donors, prospects and foundation to make multi‑year commitments.
- Prepare proposals to secure funding for high priority projects, humanitarian needs and strategic appeals.
- Design and implement solicitation strategies including the development of briefing materials, proposals and presentations for donor and foundation meetings
- Provide donors with quality stewardship by communicating the impact of donations
- Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate donor, prospect, foundation, advisor profiles and records of contact.
- Acts as a liaison and resource for other teams at Plan International Canada and works collaboratively toward common goals.
- Demonstrated experience, securing gifts or financial commitments in sales, relationship‑based fundraising, grant writing, and/or corporate partnerships. Bachelor’s degree in a related field an asset.
- Tenacity and drive to be part of Plan’s growth and evolution, focused on donor relations with an eye to continually improving relational engagement and operational efficiencies and ways of working during this phase of strategic, sustainable program growth.
- Superior networking and negotiation skills with the ability to interpret the concerns and interest of donors translating them into attractive investment opportunities.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills paired with the ability to inspire confidence and trust in donors, stakeholders and co‑operation amongst colleagues.
