Registered Nurse - Nurse Navigator Spine ERAS and Endoscopy
Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Calgary Spine Program Manager, this position provides support to the Spine Endoscopy and Spine ERAS programs at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta. This position is responsible for coordinating care and monitoring outcomes for patients undergoing spinal surgery via endoscopy and/or who are on the Spine ERAS care pathway, pre‑operatively through to discharge from acute care. Patient care responsibilities include pre‑operative teaching;
daily monitoring during inpatient phase, including coordinating care and liaising with patient, family and inpatient nursing care team; facilitation of discharge planning and education; and post‑operative contact with education, assessment and tracking of key symptoms and return to activity. In addition to patient navigation, the incumbent provides oversight and implementation of the Spine ERAS and endoscopy programs. The role supports a variety of clinical research within the ERAS and endoscopy programs for Spine, and will collaborate with research coordinator, inpatient care teams and the patient to promote, educate and track key metrics.
The incumbent will also be responsible for collecting, tracking, and reporting data. This position includes collaborating with spine surgeons (neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery), nurse practitioners, research coordinators, quality improvement analysts, and other members of the health care team, and provides support and education/in‑service to inpatient nursing teams as well as education and teaching to patients and their families. The incumbent will organize and facilitate multidisciplinary and program meetings.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well‑being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.

PLEASE NOTE:
Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 – $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Required Qualifications
