Your Opportunity
The Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a dynamic 14‑bed Level III medical/surgical neonatal intensive care unit that cares for high‑risk neonates with complex medical/surgical concerns from all over southern Alberta. With no maternal care at ACH, all patients are referred from other centers to access our specialised care. Working in our unit will give the incumbent experience in neonatal neuro‑critical care, medical cardiology, and complex general surgery, just to name a few of our areas of expertise.
The ACH NICU fosters a culture and camaraderie within our close‑knot multidisciplinary team. Our team celebrates successes and faces challenges head‑on together through mutual respect, openness and support of one another. The successful candidate will be required to coordinate the delivery of nursing care for the sick and critically ill neonate in the NICU. The Registered Nurse will participate in family teaching and provide leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary and other patient‑team personnel to maintain standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
The Registered Nurse will maintain positive working relationships with parents, families and co‑workers, and independently manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a strong family‑centred care philosophy are required.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well‑being. In your role you will utilise nursing processes through critical thinking, problem‑solving and decision‑making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
You will provide safe, quality patient and family‑centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
PLEASE NOTE:
Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58–$54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
