The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides person-centered, trauma-informed care to individuals undergoing medical detoxification within Aakom-Kiyii Health Services (AKHS). Working under a harm reduction philosophy, the LPN addresses the immediate health and wellness needs of clients with substance use and medical concerns. This role involves direct nursing care, medication administration, health assessments, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. The LPN fosters a respectful, compassionate, and culturally responsive environment that supports recovery and stabilization for vulnerable populations.

• Deliver safe, ethical, and regulated nursing care to detox clients in accordance with CLPNA and AKHS standards.
• Accurately document nursing assessments, medications, and interventions.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of detox protocols.
• Monitor client progress and elevate concerns or changes in condition as needed.
• Contribute to an environment of dignity, respect, and harm reduction.

• Completion of an accredited Practical Nurse program.
• Registration or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
• Current First Aid and CPR – Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
• Knowledge of substance use, harm reduction, and withdrawal management practices.
• Understanding of trauma-informed care and person-centered nursing approaches.
• Familiarity with healthcare documentation standards and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Knowledge of medical equipment use and infection control practices.
• Familiarity with Piikani Nation governance, culture, and language is an asset.
